FIRST LISTEN: Hear A Song from The Horrible Crowes (New Project from Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem)
By
Quinn S.
Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem has quickly proven himself to be a strong songwriter with the 1-2 punch of 2008's The '59 Sound and last year's American Slang. A few months ago, Fallon announced that he had started a new project called The Horrible Crowes along with his guitar tech, Ian Perkins. The sound was said to be a bit of a departure from The Gaslight Anthem, which had many wondering just exactly what this new project would produce. Reading Fallon's personal blog "Cassettes In The Mailbox" only served to stir up more interest and excitement for what was in the works. Yesterday, the band shared a clip of a song entitled "Black Betty & The Moon" from their forthcoming debut, Elsie. Check it out after the hop.

LISTEN: The Gaslight Anthem - "Boxer"
By
Quinn S.
In case you missed it yesterday, The Gaslight Anthem released another song from their forthcoming album, American Slang. "Boxer" is a bit of a departure from the Springsteen-fueled title track that the band released back in March. It goes back to their more punk roots, kicking off with a gang chant and a mean, distorted chord progression.

The Gaslight Anthem Reveal "American Slang"
By
Quinn S.

Today, The Gaslight Anthem released the title track from their highly-anticipated third LP, American Slang. You can hear the song on the band's MySpace right now.
The song sees the band wearing the Springsteen influence a little bit more prominently on their collective sleeve. And in accordance with their name, the song sounds like quite an anthem. The hook isn't necessarily as immediate as songs like "The '59 Sound" or "High Lonesome," but it's consistent and timeless.
And yes, above is the official cover art for American Slang, out June 15th on Side One Dummy Records.
American Slang Tracklisting:
1) American Slang
2) Stay Lucky3) Bring It On
4) The Diamond Church Street Choir
5) The Queen of Lower Chelsea
6) Orphans
7) Boxer
8) Old Haunts
9) The Spirit Of Jazz
10) We Did It When We Were Young
