Do you ever stare at the sky and wonder what it would be like to sit on a cloud and look down at the earth below? It hardly seems plausible, what with physics and all. But then a band like Raindeer comes along and nothing seem too impossible. With a sound reminiscent of MGMT, Raindeer make the kind of music that's both fun and exciting, using a choir of synthesizers and animated guitar riffs. With a mix of dance, electronica, experimental, rock, synth pop, and sugary sweet pop, it's hard to nail down just what makes Raindeer's music so entertaining. It's the audible equivalent of that blissful feeling you get when it feels as though a huge weight has been lifted off of you.

The above songs are from Raindeer's new self-titled EP. Hear and download the whole thing (for FREE) here.

The Baltimore music scene is not as cohesive or unified as one might think. While there have been success stories with the Wham City collective and, most recently, J Roddy Walston & The Business, there are still so many great bands in this city that are overlooked and under-appreciated. While you spend your nights watching TV or your weekend afternoons mowing the lawn or taking a nap, there are a ton of bands in and around Baltimore practicing and hammering out new material. Raindeer is one band that deserves a chance to break out and be heard. They're like our own MGMT. Are you listening Baltimore?
