LISTEN: Girls - "Vomit" (from Father, Son, Holy Ghost)

As previously reported, Girls are set to release their sophomore album, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, on September 13th via True Panther Sounds. After Album and, what might as well have been an album, the Broken Dreams Club EP, anticipation for and interest in this new album has only continued to build and build. Considering their musical maturation and the artistic level the band reached on Broken Dreams Club, Father, Son, Holy Ghost is an album that will truly define the significance of Girls in years to come. Clearly, the new record has been built up quite a bit -- or, rather, has a lot to live up to -- and, after a listen to "Vomit," it's seems that it will truly be something special.

"Vomit" clocks in at 6:24, and never wastes a single second or note. It starts in a hushed manner, and then erupts with an organ that takes you straight up to the heavens -- and, hey, there's some gospel in there, too. Girls manage to firmly establish themselves as young elders -- a classic act without the decades-old musical legacy. Simply put, "Vomit" is a journey; it's a song so deeply rousing and sonically rich that, when it's over, you feel like you just went through some spiritual awakening. It evokes the feeling of driving on country roads, late at night, when the only light is that of the moon and the only sound is that of your car's engine and the wind whipping through your hair.

Check out "Vomit" below.
