I have been quite busy the past few weeks which has, obviously, delayed the posting of the playlist from the last few shows.
Ever since I started doing Mixtape Muse, I have wanted to do a cover night. It is always interesting to hear another person's take on a song. Some perform a song just like the original, but others make it their own and, on occasion, make it into something entirely new. Certain covers lose the spirit of the original ("(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by Britney Spears anyone?) while others succeed in expressing the true depth of a song (Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" comes to mind).
Feist has a new album out on May 1st entitled "The Reminder." While on the topic of cover songs, I highly recommend you check out her version of Nina Simone's "See Line Woman." You will find it on Feist's album under "Sealion."
