VIDEO: SOLOBOB (aka Robert of Rooney) Is Into the '80s

Hey, what's up 1980s? How've you been? You're looking especially neon tonight. I see you brought the palm trees and the candy stripes. Robert appears to be donning his best "Miami Vice"-style clothes. I always remembered him as more of a '60s kinda guy...you know with the whole Rubber Soul throwback album cover and all. Wait, wait, wait...this breakdown is straight out of "Saturday Night Fever." It's got Bee Gees written all over it.

It might look like an entire decade of over-the-top style got smeared throughout this video, but I can't write it off. It's pretty fun. I have a feeling Robert carefully constructed this song, but I can tell he's not taking himself too seriously which is why it's that much more enjoyable. If you're not having fun, what's the point, right?

So, yeah. Robert Schwartzman, better known as the frontman for Rooney, has been writing and recording songs his entire life, but it was only recently that he decided to start releasing music under the SOLOBOB moniker (which has actually been around since Schwartzman was in high school). Schwartzman says he loves "the colorful, energetic, electric, infectious, neonic, bubonic side of music." Looks like he's mastered that here. He'll be releasing more new music and, just like "The Victim" above, the songs will be paired with a video. The plan is one new song and video every three weeks.
