The Ropes: Lost In A World of Silence and Self

MP3: The Ropes - "Be My Gun"

With the melodrama of ‘80s new wave, the sort of inconspicuous strength of Denali, and the vast sound of shoegaze...

I can hear vulnerability, the understated confidence
She asks for a purpose, she asks for attention
Repetition keeps her straight, it keeps her on the narrow
She wants him to notice, she wants him to follow
Offering questions to the wind, she can never tell
Where the catalyst is, that other half of herself
She speaks to the wind, she waits for a reply
But all she ever gets is the change of day to night
Now she is a choir, ethereal in the wind
She is now the bullet, you are now her gun

The Ropes is a duo out of New York consisting of Sharon Shy (vocals, bass) and Toppy (guitars, drums, sounds). They’ve put out a number of EPs and one LP. You can download MP3s of all their released material for free at their website.
