The Most Serene Republic Offer Up New Single "Photocall" + New Tour

It's been a while since I listened to The Most Serene Republic. My first exposure to the band was in high school (oh, no...I'm dating myself) with their debut LP, Underwater Cinematographer. I had recently read John Frusciante saying that sometimes he purchased albums based only on their cover art -- whatever was most visually engaging for him. I happened to be perusing my local library's CD section when I came across Underwater Cinematographer, and with Frusciante's mentality, I went ahead and rented the CD with only an initial interest in the cover art and band name.

I quite liked what I heard.

Fast forward a bunch of years, and the band is three LPs and two EPs into their career. They're about to head out on a spring co-headlining tour with Annuals. But that's not all...the band is also offering a new single entitled "Photocall" for free download at their website.

The Most Serene Republic - "Photocall"

It's like the soundtrack to swimming through water, with the sun burning brightly overhead. Did you ever wonder what it would be like to play underwater just as you would on dry land? This song provokes such thoughts in my mind and makes me pretty nostalgic for high school -- not that I had a strange desire to play baseball underwater or something. It's like a musical escape from the reality that I'm a few weeks shy of graduating from college. OH, HEY REAL WORLD.
