LISTEN: KNESSET - "Finisher" + Coming of Age LP

KNESSET - "Finisher"

Even when the sky is filled with dark shades of gray and appears particularly ominous, there's a majestic quality to the atmosphere that turns darkness into underappreciated beauty. The crowd of clouds may hide the sunlight from sharing its warmth, but we all know that just because we don't see it doesn't mean it's not there. Despite the booms of thunder, the flashes of lightning, and the potential destruction, everything seems sort of serene with the clouds drawn like curtains and the rain serving as a soothing soundtrack.

This is a song that captures the essence of such a storm, with its shoegaze-style guitars and euphoric sense of ease. It sounds massive, anthemic, without sacrificing a magnetic intimacy. KNESSET have an incredibly spacious sound that's dreamy, encompassing, and often crushingly beautiful. This is great melodic shoegaze that balances textures and tones without losing direction and purpose in the power of melody.

"Finisher" is from KNESSET's latest album, Coming of Age. It's a record that I've been missing out on, thanks to the mess that is my inbox. I'm rather bummed that I've been missing out on it these past few months. Just after one full listen through, I have added it to Mixtape Muse's "Favorites" list. It's a really well-produced record that's rather stunning. Highly worth the $5.
