Ponytail Share Music from New Album Through Mash-up Video

The news that Ponytail was disbanding was both sad and surprising -- they were getting quite a bit of press after all and had a lot going for them. Well, siiiiiikeeee! They didn't break up, they just needed a little bit of a break.

When you consider that the break-up was announced in August of last year, it's somewhat surprising to learn that the band has a new album set for release on April 12 through We Are Free. The album, entitled Do Whatever You Want All the Time, was produced by J Robbins and features seven tracks of brand new material.

Delicate Steve Announces Fall Tour With Fang Island

On record, the music of Delicate Steve might be the brainchild of guitarist Steve Marion, but live it's an entirely different animal, something that comes to life with help from a few close friends and bandmates. I had the opportunity to catch Delicate Steve live back in July of this year and to say it was exciting and inspiring would be a bit of an understatement. The room started off full of strangers, but then the band took the stage and people were bobbing their heads, tapping their feet, and dancing all around, brimming with cheer in agreement over Delicate Steve. Marion might stand front and center, but there's an unspoken connection between everyone on stage that demonstrates the band's musical unity and appreciation of one another. Delicate Steve is the type of thing you have to see live. And lucky you, Delicate Steve is going on tour with Fang Island. Alright!

New Ponytail Single

Well, now that school is out for the summer, the blog will be more devoted to music postings (reviews, news, etc.).

So, to begin...I give you the first single from Ponytail's forthcoming J. Robbins-produced LP Ice Cream Spiritual..."Celebrate the Body Electric (It Came From An Angel)."

This is a sonic definition of fun. The first few seconds of distorted and delayed electric guitar serve as a proclamation of that fun is going to be had over the next seven minutes. With the sonic landscape painted here, Ponytail manage to tell the story of a whole entire summer...a summer I certainly want to be a part of.
