Sharon Van Etten's latest album, Tramp, is one of our favorite releases of 2012 thus far. A combination of both gentle folk and hauntingly earnest indie rock, Tramp sounds like a classic without dating itself. It's a melancholic record with upbeat and downtempo moments, but it always manages to draw the beauty from beneath its plaintive face.
For those in the Baltimore/D.C. area, I highly recommend catching Van Etten's performance at the Ottobar this Thurday, 4/19. The Ottobar is located at 2549 N. Howard St. Baltimore, MD 21218.
