LISTEN: The Silver Seas - "Another Bad Night's Sleep"

MP3: Silver Seas - "Another Bad Night's Sleep"

Aaah the band name. At times the lynchpin for branding, key to success, point of creativity, etc. However, band names can be as transient alcoholic, schizoid, and temperamental as (usually virtuoso) guitarists.

Talent, at least in the case of Nashville-based The Silver Seas, is not as transient as a name. Having dumped the moniker "The Bees" upon signing to LA label Cheap Lullaby and the re-release of their 2007 record High Society, The Silver Seas have now found a nice little niche in a familiar, poppy, 70s style rock.

"Another Bad Night's Sleep" makes its way to our ears as a teaser for the bands upcoming album Chateau Revenge, to be released on July 6 on Cheap Lullaby. True to the band's statement about being a group with "juvenile thoughts and adult skills", this track covers seemingly puppy-dog lovesickness and alcoholism. It's a good track, with great dynamics and it takes you somewhere (I've ranted about a track that rises and falls well before). So here's to the success of Chateau Revenge.
