Strider Hero: Just What You Want to Hear

Imagine the best elements of your favorite indie bands in one place.

That's basically the simple description for Toronto's stellar Strider Hero. Singer Art Imperial has soothing vocals that pack just the right amount of grit. With his brother Michael, Strider Hero exudes a confident sound predicated on warm, shimmering melodies and thoughtful, eclectic arrangements. The dark and light in their sound serves as a perfect thematic counterbalance for Art's lyrics. It all comes together to help make the band appeal to a wide range of tastes.

Hear and download three tracks after the hop.

Strider Hero - "Monstrous Girl"

Over a verse that sounds like it could have fit perfectly on the most recent Arctic Monkeys album, Art Imperial croons like some old school r & b singer and easily plucks the heartstrings. It all leads to an absolutely gorgeous dream pop chorus reminiscent of Beach House.

Strider Hero - "Brave"

Propelled by crisp, immaculate-sounding electric guitar, "Brave" is a bit of a shuffle that seems like a possible realization of say, Talking Heads-meets-Band of Horses.

Strider Hero - "Fake NYC"

Beating the New Yorkers at their own electro pop/garage rock game, "Fake NYC" starts coolly enough but eventually erupts into the bursts of wild energy in the bridge.

"Monstrous Girl," "Brave," and "Fake NYC" are all from Strider Hero's new self-titled EP. Available now.
