Rival Schools Touring With The Gaslight Anthem + New Album
By
Quinn S.
Rival Schools formed in 1999 and released only one LP before they disbanded in 2003, following the departure of guitarist Ian Love. Aside from the fact that the band members logged time in well-known acts like Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, and Youth of Today, the band's only official full-length release, and debut album, United by Fate, became a sort of cult favorite. On the strength of both the band's pedigree and this debut, Rival Schools reunited in 2008 and performed a number of shows in Europe, offering up new material for the first time in years.
The following year, Rival Schools convened in the studio to start work on a new album. They first announced it would be released in February 2010, but eventually had to push it back all the way to October. Unfortunately, the album won't be out next month, but will instead be released in early 2011 by Photo Finish/Atlantic Records, according to a press release. The album is currently untitled, but, according to the band's Wikipedia page, is called Pedals.
Rival Schools will be hitting the road with The Gaslight Anthem at the end of this month. See the tour dates after the jump as well as the video for Rival Schools' favorite "Good Things" from their 2001 debut album, United by Fate.
Oh, sorry. I meant this Rival Schools video below.
The band's name and the title of their debut album are the same as the video game. For good measure, here's the video for album's single "Used For Glue."
