SEE & HEAR: Apache Beat - "Another Day"

Directed by Cherise Payne

Psychedelia, no doubt. Underneath the haze of psych appears to be '70s-style California, with flying eagles, shots of a beach at sunset, and a fireball sun hanging high over the visible desert landscape and its distinct horizon. Moving on to Egyptian pyramids and sphinxes and star-filled skies, it becomes a transportive journey through the world, making one feel as though this song is aiming to capture the galaxy in four minutes. Footage of animals soaring and prancing, a man gets shot with a laser, lightning splits the sky -- there's a lot you could take away from this video. It's so rife with imagery that it's easy to get lost in. Check your mind at the door.

A psychedelic swirl adds extra flavor to this slice of art rock that's as much invigorating as it is chilled out. A snaking synth line pulsates and flourishes as guitars rise and twist with a cross between surf and tropicalia. It's a bit of warmth as we slip into the fall; it comes across as a sort of encapsulation of the summer. As a saxophone goes wild in the final moments, the oscillating synth enters to fade out into the chill of the winter months.
