Animal Collective's Avey Tare Set to Release Solo Debut

On October 26th, Avey Tare (real name Dave Portner) of Animal Collective will release his first solo album entitled Down There through Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label. The album is a collection of nine songs that were recorded in June by old friend Josh Dibb (Deakin) at the Good House, an antiquated church in upstate New York. Tare says that his two favorite animals are the otter and crocodile, with the latter playing a big role in Down There. According to a press release, the album "carries you through a murky world of sound, an alien death world of soul grooves that is both honest and otherworldly." Sounds like a good midnight listen, and the perfect record for Halloween (and just in time, too!).

Down There Tracklisting:

1) Laughing Hieroglyphic
2) 3 Umbrellas
3) Oliver Twist
4) Glass Bottom Boat
5) Ghost Of Books
6) Cemeteries

Down There is out October 26th.
