Here We Go Magic Releasing New EP, Download New Song

Here We Go Magic will release The January EP through Secretly Canadian on May 10. The 6-song collection rounds out the songwriting cycle the band began while working on their 2010 LP Pigeons. This companion EP was produced by Jen Turner and recorded live to analog tape in a band-built living room studio. You won't have to wait until May, though, to hear material from the new EP. Check out "Hands In the Sky" below.

MP3: Here We Go Magic - "Hands In the Sky"

If you put your hands in the sky, what are you reaching for? There isn't really much of anything tangibly hanging there, but the sky is something that holds quite a bit of significance -- in different ways -- in our culture(s). For some, it's the place where the spirits of the dead travel to; for some, it's something to behold, a visual escape from the weight of the world; and for some, it's something to marvel at that keeps the imagination running wild. With its swirling ethereality, this song's nearly eight minute length seems relatively short. The krautrock adventurousness and dream pop allure keep you in the moment, riding each note and each wave. As I type this, the sun shines bright outside. And yet, this song sucks me into a world that, while beautiful, is a bit hazy with sunlight fighting with and tearing through clouds.
