My Morning Jacket Set to Release New LP, Offer Music for Free Download
By
Quinn S.
My Morning Jacket will release their sixth studio album, Circuital, this spring. The album was recorded in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN, and was co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists). The sessions in Louisville, the band's hometown, were recorded in a gymnasium located within a church (no word on whether the music is conducive to exercising...bad jokes!).
While we wait for music to be released from Circuital, the band is offering up free music to celebrate and countdown to the new album. For six weeks, My Morning Jacket will release one track a week via their mailing list. The first five downloads will be live recordings taken from the band's residency at New York’s Terminal 5 that took place this past October. Each night, they performed one of their albums in its entirety, and for the next few weeks we'll be treated to a live version of a song from each of their albums. On April 12th, the countdown ends with a new song from Circuital. Right now, you can get a live cut of "Butch Cassidy" from the band's debut album, The Tennessee Fire.
Sign up and upcoming tour dates after the hop.
