Yeah, There's A Hurricane Coming. Can We Stop Talking About It?

"Come on Irene..."

If you're situated somewhere along the east coast that isn't typically hurricane territory (like here in Maryland), then you've probably been either A) talking a lot about Hurricane Irene or B) are tired of people talking about Hurricane Irene. She really is the talk of the town around these parts because usually the biggest threat we face is a snowstorm. Naturally, people are worried (or just straight up freaking out) about the impending storm because, well, most of us haven't really had to deal with a severe hurricane before. But It's the weekend -- who wants to think about a destructive storm on the weekend? Not Loverboy, they worked for this weekend, and so did you and I.

So, in honor of Hurricane Irene, here are a few songs that come to mind upon the mention of "hurricane" or "rain"; songs that really have nothing to do with weather. METAPHORS.

Jarvis Cocker - "Heavy Weather"

Everything But the Girl - "Missing" (Todd Terry Remix...aka the bigger version of the song)

Garbage - "Only Happy When It Rains"

For real, though...stay safe out there this weekend, friends.
