Yeah, There's A Hurricane Coming. Can We Stop Talking About It?

"Come on Irene..."

If you're situated somewhere along the east coast that isn't typically hurricane territory (like here in Maryland), then you've probably been either A) talking a lot about Hurricane Irene or B) are tired of people talking about Hurricane Irene. She really is the talk of the town around these parts because usually the biggest threat we face is a snowstorm. Naturally, people are worried (or just straight up freaking out) about the impending storm because, well, most of us haven't really had to deal with a severe hurricane before. But It's the weekend -- who wants to think about a destructive storm on the weekend? Not Loverboy, they worked for this weekend, and so did you and I.

So, in honor of Hurricane Irene, here are a few songs that come to mind upon the mention of "hurricane" or "rain"; songs that really have nothing to do with weather. METAPHORS.

VIDEO: Jarvis Cocker - "Further Complications"

Pitchfork.tv debuted the video for Jarvis Cocker's "Further Complications" today. The song is the latest single off of his most excellent album of the same name. The Stéphanie Di Guisto-directed video really captures Jarvis' character well. He moves his body like a slinky, crams himself into small spaces, does his trademark dances, and continues the playful aesthetic of the Further Complications album cover. It's simple but oh so fun and creative. There's so much you can do with a white background and Di Guisto proves it here. Watch the video via Pitchfork.tv below.
