Lately, jadedness seems to smother everything. Nothing is stimulating, everything has started to feel rather monotonous. It's not that life has become predictable, but it feels like it's dominated by a sense of complacency. It all just seems so stagnant. Only a wrecking ball of epic proportions could crack this all apart.

Enter no frills, straightforward, loud rock 'n' roll.

The name Pony Time suggests something rather fun and liberating, and that's pretty much what you get with this Seattle duo of Luke Beetham (bass/baritone guitar/vocals) and Stacy Peck (drums). Theirs is a sound of honed, heavy garage rock that rattles, shakes, and invigorates because it sees attitude working with finesse -- it's raw but direct. I always say that great music can be found when a band conveys a lot with a minimalist approach, exhibiting truly effective sonic muscle along the way. Pony Time sound like a stampede even though they're armed with just a guitar and drums.

"What If You Caught Me" and "Because I Care" are from Pony Time's new album, Go Find Your Own, out now on Per Se Records.
