Well, that didn't take long. Due way back in April of this year, our third, free, mixtape is finally available for download right now. The last two have, more or less, had themes, but III is more of a general collection of tracks that have caught my ear over the past few months. Some you may have heard a few of these songs on the site over that time, while other songs are making their debut on the site. Like the past two mixtapes, my hope is that III introduces you to a new favorite artist/band and gives these talented folks even just a little bit more exposure. Sorry it took so long! Over a year ago, Montreal-based DJ and electronic artist CFCF (aka Michael Silver) released a great mixtape entitled Do U Like Night Bus? for free download. It followed up another free mixtape, the smooth, '80s-indebted Slow R&B For Zellers Canada-Wide, and helped to pioneer the Night Bus genre, or feeling. Now, Silver's back with another CFCF mixtape, one that features ASAP Rocky, Oneohtrix Point Never, Fever Ray, Alicia Keys, Notorious BIG, and more. You can download the mixtape below.

Download Flying Lotus' Thundercat "SHENANIGANS PT.1" Mix

Thundercat (aka South Los Angeles-native Stephen Bruner) is an accomplished bassist who's set to finally release his solo debut, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, on August 30th through Brainfeeder. Over the years, Bruner has performed and recorded with artists from Flying Lotus to Stanley Clarke to Snoop Dogg to Eric Benét, but had never intended on releasing his own music until Flying Lotus stepped in.

The debut, produced by Flying Lotus, features guest spots and contributions from everyone from Erykah Badu to members of Sa-Ra and J*DaVeY, to pianist Austin Peralta and Thundercat's own Grammy-winning brother, drummer Ronald Bruner, Jr. As a prelude to the album and an introduction to Thundercat's work, Flying Lotus created an extended mix entitled "Shenanigans Pt. 1"which features a collection of new material, previously released material, as well as some things that may not ever receive release.
