I really know next to nothing when it comes to what makes a killer party. I always attend, I never host. Some people want something to pulse through them and move their legs almost involuntarily. Then, there are those people who want something smart and not assembly-line; not more of the same old, same old.
New Orleans rap duo The Knux (brothers Kentrell "Krispy Kream" Lindsey and Alvin "Rah Almillio" Lindsey) released the Fuck You EP last week, but I just had a chance to listen through it recently. If you want to maintain that balance between smart and fun, check this out. Not only do they play with that electronic sound a la Daft Punk ("Pop the Cork"), they even play around with the vocal melody of Imogen Heap's hit "Hide and Seek" ("Watchu Say"). The brothers are sharp-tongued, witty and know how to place live instruments and samples in all the right places.
1) Floozy
2) Pop the Cork
2) Pop the Cork
3) Fruits (ft. Malbec)
4) Watchu Say
5) Fuck You
The Knux are currently working on a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut, Remind Me In 3 Days...
