Dead Confederate Releasing New LP

Athens, Georgia-based rockers Dead Confederate are set to release their new album, Sugar, on August 24th through TAO Recordings/Old Flame. The album is the follow-up to the band's 2008 debut, Wrecking Ball. Sugar was produced by John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) during the "snowpocalypse" that happened earlier this year (what a perfect time to buckle down and record an album).

On Sugar, the band moves away a bit from the aching rock-meets-psychedelia sound that first characterized the band. The new material was influenced by the band's tours with Dinosaur Jr. and the Meat Puppets. From these tours, the band developed a strong affinity for early underground rock bands of the '80s and '90s. How fitting then that J Mascis makes a guest appearance on album single "Giving It All Away."

Dead Confederate is currently wrapping up a tour in Europe and have one date scheduled in the U.S. following their return.

May 29 - Dot to Dot Festival, Bristol, UK
May 30 - Dot to Dot Festival, Nottingham, UK
May 31 - Dot to Dot Festival, Manchester, UK
June 1 - Camden Barfly, London, UK
Jul 9 - Forecastle Festival, Louisville, KY
