LISTEN: School of Seven Bells - "I L U" (Phantogram Remix)

School of Seven Bells recently released a terrific new album entitled Disconnect From Desire. From that album comes the new single "Heart Is Strange" which is being released with a few other rarities as the Heart Is Strange EP on September 14th through Vagrant. One of the extra tracks is Phantogram's remix of Disconnect From Desire's gorgeous shoegaze/dream pop tune "I L U". Check it out below.

A completely different feeling than the original. It's a lot more subtle and intimate, stripped of its sprawling, angelic aura. Before you write off the remix, you must know that "I L U" in a more earthly setting is still as effective and moving as the original. With the chirp of crickets inserted during the first verse and a slow-paced drum pattern rocking throughout, the song sounds so personal. The Deheza sisters' incredibly warm vocals and harmonies move from the clouds above down to earth, sounding as if the words are being sung every so sweetly and softly in your ear. None of the beauty or angelic magnetism is lost on Phantogram's reinterpretation.
