Pure Bathing Culture to Release Debut EP, Download "Ivory Coast" Now
By
Quinn S.
Portland band Pure Bathing Culture will release their self-titled debut EP on May 22nd via Father/Daughter Records. The duo of Sarah Versprille and Dan Hindman may be a relatively young band having played their first show just a few months back in January, but on record they sound like they've been doing this whole "being band good band" thing for a while. The project took off last year in between Versprille's and Hindman's touring cycles with Sub Pop's Vetiver (Versprille plays keyboards, Hindman plays guitar). May 22nd is kind of far away, so let's not wait around. Hear and download EP track "Ivory Coast" below.
Pure Bathing Culture - "Ivory Coast"
The sun peers from behind departing rain clouds, and the chill fades. A veil of light falls gracefully down upon the shadows of the storm, returning a sense of comfort to the world. Darkness cracks under the force of it all, and now everything feels undeniably blissful. It comes across as a rather cathartic experience, and that pretty much captures the essence of Pure Bathing Culture's "Ivory Coast." With its glistening reverb and echo of '80s pop, it's pleasant and oh so charming.
The band also has a few shows coming up. Dates below.
May 4 – University of Montana- Top Hall Lounge (Missoula, MT) w/ Fruit Bats
May 5 – The Bell Tower (Pullman, WA) w/ Fruit Bats
Can't make one of these shows? Check out Pure Bathing Culture's recent Beardy Session below, where "Ivory Coast" sounds even more delightful in stripped-down form.
