The Lights - "New New"

The trouble in dealing with a barrage of emotional bullets is the difficulty in finding a balance. When you feel like you've found solid ground, you are subsequently knocked back into the muck of uncertainty. One emotion pulls you in one direction, while another pulls you in a different direction altogether. But the things to take away from all the battles are the lessons and the opportunities to find something new. When it comes down to it, you start to realize that change starts with acceptance.

In "New New," The Lights hammer out a fighter of a song that rolls along with a defiant attitude. On the strength of a rattling acoustic and electric chord progression, it's loose without losing its succinctness; it's rowdy but important. It's a song that calls to mind good times and bands like Guided By Voices and The Fall.
