WORLD PREMIERE: Sparta Philharmonic - "Maybe It's Best" Video

The Sparta Philharmonic released one of last year's best albums with (trans)migratory birds. Today, Mixtape Muse is proud and excited to premiere the video for album-standout "Maybe It's Best." The most striking and significant images in the video appear while frontman/guitarist/cellist Greg Bortnichak pulls a heavy rope along, racing through the woods with more intensity and heart than most Olympic runners. Thematically, it tackles connection and relationships, represented by various symbolic images throughout the piece. Watch it all below.

To get an insider's understanding of the video, read what Greg has to say about it after the jump.

Greg Bortnichak on the "Maybe It's Best" video:
The video explores presence and absence and their relationship to intimate connection. My character is both literally and figuratively running through the woods, trying desperately to make a very literal connection to someone who is absent, perhaps in numerous ways, but simply can't. Deep feelings of dejection and loss follow -- he can sense that person's presence, even hear them in the earth. Just when he thinks that connection is lost forever, the person at the other end of the rope reaches out, but sadly, in the context of the video, my character will never know that the connection was in fact made -- albeit not on his own terms. But of course, that's just how the universe works sometimes.
