LISTEN: Eternal Summers - "Pogo"

By Daniela Carvalho

Straightforward. Simple. Short. Easy-going. Bare-bones. Guitar and drums. Awesome.

A song that captures the essence of surf/garage rock. It's an example of how these genres naturally connect with the beach. Power chords float on reverb as the snare drum rifles off a few shots that help the song live up to its title. The music races with the energy of punk and a bright melody culled from the influence of garage rock. It's a cocktail of sunshine and the invigorating breeze of sea air. Like surfing a wave, it's over as quickly as it started, not long after a speedy drum roll kicked things into gear.

BUY: "Pogo" is from Eternal Summers' new album, Silver, out tomorrow on Kanine Records. Pick it up here digitally or here on CD.
