Crystal Antlers are set to release their sophomore album, Two-Way Mirror, on July 12th through Recreation Ltd. Following the 2009 release of their debut, Tentacles, the band's label, Touch & Go, went through major downsizing that resulted in the end of both production and distribution of any future releases. Without a label to call home, Crystal Antlers settled down in the small farming town of La Punta Banda, Mexico. It was there that they would create a bulk of the material that would end up becoming Two-Way Mirror.
Recording for the album began in September 2010 at the Compound studio in their hometown, Long Beach, CA. Producer Ikey Owens and engineers Athony Arvizu & Jeff Lewis -- the recording team behind Crystal Antlers self-titled debut EP -- returned to assist behind the boards and hone the eclectic range of sounds and textures the band had been experimenting with following the release of Tapes Volume #1 Tentacles Era and the Little Sister/Dead Horses 7-inch. Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney) handled mixing duties, and punk artist Raymond Pettibon created the album art.
