Letting Up Despite Great Faults - "Teenage Tide"
In the enveloping heat of the summer air, you feel it all. You feel every inch of your body -- every pore, every hair, every molecule -- reacting to the dry, hot air. And while it may feel like you're treading waves in what might as well be referred to as a "sea of heat," summer is a season in which the world seems, in many ways, more open and engaging. Sure, if it's too hot you'll want to stay inside, but it's nothing like the winter -- the "internal" season of the year, if you will, for its ability to force us indoors. There's a sense of youth that's perpetually tied to the summer. No matter how old you get, summer will always be where good times are had and great memories are made. It's a season that can be so easily romanticized.
Los Angeles' Letting Up Despite Great Faults capture this youthful, romantic, reflective feel of summertime with "Teenage Tide." It's a song that's swathed in light fuzz and sweeping, swirling synth textures, creating a dream pop ambience. Inside this warm frame is a mixture of indie pop twang and charm along with shoegaze's starry-eyed guitar riffs.
