Listen: Tenacious D Album Teaser

Yeah, seriously.

If they're not browsing /b/ or Reddit, males between the ages of 11-17 will probably spend at least 48 seconds doing something else on the Internet today.

That's right, rock-duo Tenacious D are back...even though their last work defined commercial flop.

Back before Jack Black had tarnished his career with faults like Gulliver's Travels, Year One, and yes, Nacho Libre, the D carried a lot of clout. Gass was relatively unknown actor, but easily rose to cult-fame on the strings of his acoustic guitar. Black stole the show in his scenes in High Fidelity and surged onward in Hollywood, riding the coattails of his outlandishly funny performance as a slovenly older brother in Orange County.

Read on for the teaser via SoundCloud.

Tenacious D's first and self-titled record (backed notably by Dave Grohl on drums and guitar in the studio) stayed just below the radar the whole time, propelling Black's career forward. Even though almost every song has a some phallic-references and self-referential lyrics, the 14-yr old me bowed in reverence.

Two years after managing to carry School of Rock, the music went south with Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny. Nothing had changed from their style, but everything seemed that much less original. So now I'm left wondering if another Tenacious D record will start an upswing for Jack Black...or if he's truly squandered his legacy to the point where even brave KG can't save him.
