Paleo (aka David Strackany) just released a new music video for "Over the Hill and Back Again," a song from his latest album Fruit of the Spirit. The piece features a range of mediums, from old film to stop-motion, hand-drawn animations. Strackany's words are brought to life in a literal sense, but it's all done with a bit of wit. The patchwork aesthetic of the video matches well with the song's layered, pitter-patter percussion and loose character. Check it out below.
Paleo's currently on tour. Check out the dates after the hop.

REVIEW: BOBBY - Bobby
By

BOBBY - Bobby
MMM1/2
The name “Bobby” doesn’t evoke too much with its simplicity and ambiguity. In a sense, it’s a word that leaves a lot to the imagination – and little concrete detail. You can try Googling it, but you won’t come up with too much. For a band, the name is one of the most generic choices out there, and yet, this BOBBY is anything but generic – or simplistic. In fact, Bobby, the band’s debut, is one of the most fluid yet meticulous albums of the year.

Hear and Download a Song from Delta Spirit / Deer Tick / Dawes Supergroup Middle Brother
By
Quinn S.
That's right. In case you were unaware, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, John McCauley III of Deer Tick and Matthew Vasquez of Delta Spirit formed a band called Middle Brother at the tail end of last year. Their debut album is schedule for release on March 1st through Partisan Records, but, right now, you can hear a song from it below.
MP3: Middle Brother - "Me Me Me"
Nothing like a little bit of rock 'n' roll boogie. McCauley takes the vocal reigns here with harmonizing support from Goldsmith and Vasquez. It calls to mind Creedence Clearwater Revival and Crosby, Still, Nash & Young. With rattling guitars, jumping piano, and group vocals, it's a whole lot of fun and shows promise for, what I believe, will be a great debut.
Check out the band's upcoming tour dates and watch a live performance of "Me Me Me" from the band's appearance at last year's Invisible Children Holiday Benefit concert after the hop.

Mountain Man - "Soft Skin"
Mountain Man - "Animal Tracks"
In a kitchen, located somewhere off the road in Vermont, three women conjure up timeless harmonies as big as the mountains that surround the house in which they are set. One of the women takes a finger, presses firmly down on the record button and carefully makes her way back to the other two. They pause for a moment, breathe in, and then unite to make music that sounds almost holy in nature, with an understated majesty that's absolutely undeniable. Armed with shy-but-commanding voices and one small acoustic guitar, they transcend the small kitchen in which they currently record.
Mountain Man features no men -- which I hope you've figured out by now. It's a group of three wonderful women from Vermont: Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Amelia Randall Meath. I can't confirm if they recorded in a kitchen.
BUY: Mountain Man's new album, Made the Harbor, is out now on Partisan Records (US) and Bella Union (UK). Pick it up here
