BRAID WEEK: Download "Universe or Worse" from Braid's New EP

Braid's brand new, MM-approved EP, Closer to Closed, came out yesterday -- just in case you didn't know. We've already shared the opener "The Right Time," and now thanks to the kind folks at RCRD LBL we can share the EP's closing track, "Universe or Worse." It begins in a casual yet pensive manner and increases in scope just before the midpoint of the song, with guitars ringing out notes and drums sounding bigger and bigger. Eventually, it swallows you whole, pulling you into a canyon of percussion with an undertow of reflective tones.

LISTEN: Jessica 6 - "East West Funk" (B-side) + See the Light LP

Yesterday, Brooklyn Nu-disco/electropop trio Jessica 6 released their debut album, See the Light, through Peacefrog Records. Comprising former members of Hercules & Love Affair, the band has a pretty solid pedigree when it comes to the dance music genre. If you need to get down with your bad self, then go right ahead and listen to See the Light in its entirety below.

LISTEN: The Bewitched Hands on Top of Our Heads - "I Don't Know"

I'm not about to lie. If you saw my Top 5 of 2010 (so far), you know that I'm really excited about this group of Francophones, and not just because their band name rules. 

Five gentlemen and one lady combine to make Bewitched Hands a happening sextet that need to be watched. NPR noted their last trip across the pond for SXSW, and honestly, I can't wait to find out when they'll be back next.

Bewitched hands are a guitar heavy band, with a great sense of movements in their songwriting, interesting harmonies, and a sound that can rise and fall from just voice, to arena-rock levels (or, to be fair, an Arcade Fire-lie scale).
