Hear New Arctic Monkeys Song "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair"

In case you haven't already heard, Arctic Monkeys are set to release their fourth studio album, Suck It and See, on June 6th overseas/June 7th here in the States. Back in March, the band released a song called "Brick By Brick," which some initially thought wasn't going to be a track on their new album (it is). Personally, I was just a bit disappointed by the song, but only because of the lyrics. Alex Turner has always been a fantastic lyricist, but I felt as though "Brick By Brick" was out of character for him considering the repetitiveness of the lyrics. I loved the music of the track -- nailing the vibe and sound of more polished '60s garage rock -- but the lyrics didn't quite match the strength of the composition. Maybe it's something that'll sound better in the context of the album.
Now, Arctic Monkeys have shared a second track from Suck It and See, which you can check out below. I dig it.
Arctic Monkeys - "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair"
Clearly, the band is working in a vein similar to that of their overlooked, MM-approved Humbug. The big difference here is the band's decidedly darker tone. "Don't Sit Down" has to be the heaviest song they've ever released, using what sounds like lower tunings -- if not baritone guitars. The spacious distortion makes the guitars sound as wide and stark as a desert at dusk. Additionally, there's a hint of Western spirit at points that helps make it all the more deep and expansive. The band says California didn't change them while they recorded the album in the Golden State, but it's clear their surroundings certainly influenced the sound of their new material.
Suck It and See is out June 6th overseas/June 7th in the U.S.

i love this a lot more than brick by brick, but i feel really strongly about "yeah yeah yeah"s in songs, so maybe i'm biased. i have a feeling suck it and see is gonna be one of my summer '11 albums.
