At the tail end of last month, Simon shared "Will Do," the first track released from TV On the Radio's new album, Nine Types of Light. Today, I've got another track from the album entitled "Caffeinated Consciousness". While the name might suggest this song would be buzzing and rather spastic, "Caffeinated Consciousness" is more about rocking a hard beat that recalls the early '90s. I would imagine that having a consciousness hopped up on caffeine might produce quite a throbbing head, and this beat certainly pulses with great strength. The choruses scale back the verse's heavy, 1-2 chord punch in favor of a more airy, dream pop-oriented groove -- a sort of reprieve from the prescription of head-banging passed out in said verses.
