LISTEN: Heypenny - "Water"

Heypenny - "Water"

Frenetic. Energetic. With spastic drumming and a pummeling, guttural bass riff, this song speeds along at such a breakneck speed that if it went any faster, I'm not sure the ears and mind could accurately process what was going on. Heypenny prove to be mindful of timing, tastefully arranging rhythms and riffs to wind your attention up like thread around a spool. It sounds like Death's garage punk crossed with Queen-worthy falsetto and psych rock/hard rock riffs influenced by the likes of Cream and Deep Purple. This is, easily, one of the most enjoyable songs I've heard in a while, especially for how it breaks down into this '70s instrumental jam during the final minutes.

"Water" is from Heypenny's latest album, A Jillion Kicks.
